Here’s a Pros & Cons list for submitting Customs Entry at POD.
FOR FCL (FULL CONTAINER LOAD) + POD usually offers 7 free days at the port for standard containers, whereas Rail gives 48hours. + Most entries can be submitted 5 days prior to vessel arrival at POD + Entry fees are usually more affordable at POD
– Not all Steamship Lines can accommodate IT# cancellation for POD Entry.
FOR LCL (LESS THAN CONTAINER LOAD) + IT# cancellation can be requested at any time + Same amount of free days at POD and Final Destination
– Entry cannot be submitted until cargo arrives at POD
